A
course prerequisite is a course that should be

for satisfactory completion of the subsequent
course. Students should consult the SCSU catalogue
and the Schedule of Classes booklet for prerequisite
information.

Requirements
To ensure students the opportunity to pursue the
objectives of a liberal education, all students
enrolled in this program are required to complete
41-47 credits in liberal education, known as the
University Requirements. Additionally, each business
student is required to complete 43 credits as
follows: a 34-credit block of course known as
the Business Common Core (including a 3-credit
MIS selection); a 3-credit of courses known as
Analysis and Applications; a 3-credit International/Global
business course keyed to each major; a 3-credit
Business Elective; and a 3-credit cognate in Personal
Computer Applications to provide professional
breadth. Depth in the chosen major is provided
through required courses and those chosen by the
student. Free electives, for a total of 14-17
credits, allow the student to pursue additional
areas of personal or professional interest. Although
6 of these 14-17 credits may be taken within the
School of Business, students are strongly encouraged
to take all their free electives outside the School
of Business.
A
minimum of 50 percent of the 43 credits represented
by the Business Common Core, Analysis and Applications,
International/Global course, and Business elective
and at least 50 percent of the course credits
required for each major (i.e. 10 of 20 credits
for Accounting and 9 of 18 credits for all other
majors) must be taken in the School of Business
at Southern Connecticut State University. Therefore,
no more than 31 or 30 total credit hours in the
Business Common Core Analysis and Applications,
International/Global requirement, Business Elective,
and the major can be transferred to SCSU from
other colleges or universities to meet the SCSU
B.S./Business Administration course graduation
requirements. In addition to meeting the SCSU
graduation requirements, a minimum of Quality
Point Ratio of 2.0 in the course credits for the
major is required for graduation, with no grade
less than a "C" in each of the specialization courses. A grade of C- or below in the specialization courses requires retaking the class.
Students
seeking a business administration major should
acquire the appropriate CPR form from Seabury
Hall 204 (for economics and finance), Seabury
209 (for marketing or management), or Seabury
216 (for accounting) and plan their program with
the help of an adviser.
